Reno Omokri Urges Peter Obi: Don’t Incite Chaos in Nigeria Over Election Loss

Former presidential spokesman Reno Omokri has urged Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, not to incite chaos in the country following his loss in the 2023 presidential election. Omokri made this plea during an interview with Channels Television on Friday.

Emphasizing the need to implement the Uwais report on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Omokri stated, “We need to implement the Uwais report on INEC, where the president’s power to appoint the chairman and commissioners of INEC should be removed. It should go to a non-partisan and objective body.”

Furthermore, he advocated for a more robust “Buy Nigerian” campaign, expressing disappointment in what he perceives as a lack of it under the administration led by Bola Tinubu. Omokri stressed the importance of promoting locally made products, urging people to choose Nigerian alternatives when available. He mentioned supporting brands like Dangote, Glo, Innoson, and Air Peace.

This comes after Omokri criticized Obi for his comments about Nigeria receiving food aid from war-torn Ukraine. Obi had previously stated that it was a “national disgrace” for Nigeria to be in a position to receive food aid from Ukraine, given the ongoing conflict with Russia.

In response to Obi’s statement, Omokri stated on X, “It is very ignorant for Peter Obi to say that it is a ‘national disgrace’ for Nigeria to receive food aid from Ukraine because it is a war-torn country.”

Omokri pointed out that Egypt had been receiving food aid from Ukraine long before Nigeria did, indicating that Obi needed to be better informed about the situation in Ukraine and its role in providing food aid to various nations.
