Rangers Secures 2-0 Victory Over Sunshine Stars in Enugu

Rangers FC secured a decisive 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars in Enugu, maintaining their position at the top of the NPFL table with 51 points.

The Flying Antelopes displayed their prowess right from the start, scoring their first goal in the 44th minute with a powerful shot from Kalu Nweke.

In the second half, jersey no. 34, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, extended Rangers’ lead with a well-placed header from a corner kick, leaving the Sunshine Stars’ goalkeeper helpless.

Despite the Sunshine goalkeeper making numerous saves, Rangers could have easily scored more goals, potentially reaching a total of five.

Rangers’ Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, praised his team’s performance, stating they were capable of scoring even more goals. “My boys were in top form and would have scored ‘four to five goals’,” he commented after the match.

He also expressed satisfaction that Rangers have maintained an unbeaten record both at home and away since the beginning of the league’s second stanza.

Assistant Coach of Sunshine Stars, Julius Kayode, attributed their loss to missing key players, with five of them absent from the match.

He mentioned that Sunshine Stars had been on an unbeaten streak in their past six encounters but acknowledged the impact of the absent players on the team’s performance in this match.

This victory further solidifies Rangers FC’s position at the top of the league table, showcasing their strength and determination in the NPFL.
