Pension Fund Soars to N19.53 Trillion, Increases by N1.17 Trillion in January

The pension fund assets have increased by N1.17 trillion to reach N19.53 trillion as of January 31, up from N18.36 trillion recorded on December 31, 2023.

This information is detailed in the unaudited report on the Pension Funds Industry Portfolio by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) for the period ending January 31.

PenCom disclosed that out of the total fund, N12.14 trillion was invested in Federal Government securities.

Breaking down the investments, the commission stated that N11.59 trillion was allocated to bonds, while treasury bills accounted for N221.81 billion.

Additionally, agency bonds had N14.86 billion invested, Sukuk bonds stood at N124.89 billion, and green bonds were valued at N181.57 billion.

PenCom also noted that N270 billion was invested in state government securities and N1.71 trillion in money market instruments.

In terms of the fund assets in United States Dollars, the value was N14.39 billion at an exchange rate of N1,356 per dollar.

The commission reported that Retirement Savings Account (RSA) subscribers numbered 10.22 million as of the period under review.
