Otti Grants Abia Women Entrepreneurs N100,000 Interest-Free Loan on Women’s Day
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced a special initiative for Abia women entrepreneurs. He has approved an interest-free loan of N100,000 for these women, along with others running small and medium enterprises in rural communities. This loan is part of his commitment to supporting women’s economic growth and creating opportunities for wealth across the state.
Governor Otti shared this exciting news in his message for the 2024 International Women’s Day celebration. He emphasized his administration’s dedication to advancing women’s empowerment and highlighted the significant roles women play in his government. Currently, four women hold important positions in his cabinet, and an impressive 17 out of 24 Permanent Secretaries in the state are women, a milestone in the state’s history.
“This initiative fulfills our promise to empower women and support their businesses from the ground up,” Otti stated. “We aim to ensure that at least 50 individuals per ward receive N100,000 each to boost their enterprises.”
In addition to the loan program, Governor Otti’s government is focused on promoting gender equality and women’s inclusion. They have increased budget allocations for sectors crucial to women’s welfare, such as health, education, agriculture, and poverty alleviation. Women are also being appointed to key positions across government agencies in Abia State.
Governor Otti also highlighted the state’s commitment to the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP), which aims to improve livelihoods for women in targeted areas of Abia and Nigeria. The project focuses on influencing social norms related to gender equality and providing women access to essential life, business, and technical skills.
