Ned Nwoko: Received Up to N1 Billion for Constituency Projects

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing the Delta North senatorial district, has revealed that he received over N1 billion for constituency projects. In a recent interview, Senator Nwoko explained that the allocation of funds to senators varies based on the scale of their constituency projects. He clarified that it is not uncommon for some senators, including himself, to receive larger amounts.

This disclosure comes amidst the controversy surrounding Senator Abdul Ningi’s alleged budget padding of the 2024 budget with an extra N3.7 trillion, which was not assigned to any specific project. While the Senate denied any wrongdoing, some senators have provided details about the funds allocated for projects in their respective districts.

Senator Nwoko emphasized that these allocated funds are meant for financing projects within their senatorial districts, not for personal reimbursement. He mentioned that senators receive funds based on their lobbying efforts and contacts to benefit their constituencies.

Regarding the allocation of N1 billion, Senator Nwoko confirmed, “Of course, I did. That’s why I am who I am. But these are projects for my people.” He highlighted that these funds are utilized for various projects such as roads, water, and training programs to benefit the constituents in his district.
