Mother Arrested for Attempting to End Baby’s Life with Insecticide

Police in Lagos State have arrested a mother for attempting to end her baby’s life using a poisonous insecticide called “Sniper.” The incident was reported to the police by the chief security officer at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, on Friday.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in the state, the mother brought her one-year-and-seven months-old daughter to the hospital for treatment. During her confession to a doctor at the hospital, she admitted to giving her child “Sniper” to drink on Sunday when her convulsions were not subsiding.

The mother claimed that she administered the liquid to her child in an attempt to help her rest from excessive convulsions. Upon receiving this information, detectives were immediately dispatched to the hospital, where they found the baby receiving treatment.

The mother has been taken into custody for investigation following her daughter’s treatment. The police are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
