Man City Player Injured: ‘Breaks Finger’ in UCL Match

Man City midfielder Matheus Nunes hurt his finger badly during a game against Copenhagen in the Champions League.

In the second leg match, the Portugal player slipped and landed badly on his hand, causing his finger to bend strangely. Pictures of the injury quickly spread on social media.

Man City played really well and easily made it to the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen. They won 6-2 overall.

They scored goals early on from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez. Then Erling Haaland added another goal, his 29th this season.

Even though Mohamed Elyounoussi scored for Copenhagen, they were outmatched. City showed their quality, taking advantage of Copenhagen’s mistakes.

Akanji got a good shot in from Alvarez’s corner, with too much space in the box. Copenhagen’s goalkeeper, Kamil Grabara, made a mistake too, letting in a simple shot from Alvarez.

The Copenhagen fans, about 2,500 of them, stayed positive, keeping the atmosphere lively. They cheered when Elyounoussi scored a nice goal after a good pass.

Haaland had a quiet first half but then scored just before halftime. He got the ball from Rodri, moved onto his left foot, and scored.

This goal was Haaland’s 41st in the Champions League, matching Sergio Aguero’s record, but in just 37 games for three different teams. City also set a record, being the first team to score three or more goals in nine home Champions League games in a row.

Rodri’s assist was his last play before being taken off at halftime.

In the second half, City took it easy but still played well. Goalkeeper Ederson made some important saves.

City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, is happy with how the team is doing. They’ve won 18 and drawn two of their last 20 games. Now they’re waiting for the draw to see who they play next in the Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals, which is on March 15.
