Kamba Land Border in Kebbi State Reopens

The Kebbi state Comptroller of Customs, Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, has officially reopened the Kamba land border in Kebbi state, following the federal government’s directive to reopen land and air borders.

The decision to reopen the border aligns with the directive from the Customs Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, aiming to facilitate both international and local lawful trades at the border.

Customs Comptroller Ojike emphasized that while the border is reopened, activities, goods, and services that could harm the country’s economy will not be tolerated. He stated that customs officers are present to facilitate trade, as long as stakeholders abide by customs laws, make proper declarations, and pay duties to the federal government.

Despite the reopening, Ojike reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining Nigeria’s security. He mentioned that strict measures will be in place to prevent the passage of arms and other harmful items through the reopened border. Vigilance will be heightened, and intelligence gathering will be intensified to deter arms suppliers.

The official reopening ceremony was attended by the district head of Kamba, Alhaji Mahmuda Fana, along with stakeholders and sister agencies in the state.
