“HURIWA Urges Tinubu: Hold Incompetent Security Chiefs Accountable”

Civil rights group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), is urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to spare any of his security chiefs found incompetent in their duties. This call comes after reports surfaced that terrorists invaded LEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), in Kuriga town of Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, and abducted numerous pupils.

HURIWA, through its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, expressed concern about the rising terrorist attacks. Onwubiko highlighted the disconnect between the military’s claims of eliminating top commanders of terrorist groups and the ongoing attacks across Nigeria.

Additionally, HURIWA questioned the delay in adopting innovative solutions to combat terrorism. They referenced a UK-based Nigerian, Yunusa Jibrin, who claimed to have used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify bandits and their hideouts in Nigeria. Jibrin, a Master’s degree graduate in computer science, explained his method of using AI-driven image synthesis to create thousands of visual representations of bandits in desert environments, complete with weapons and vehicles. This approach, if adopted by the government, could assist in locating and eliminating bandits nationwide.

HURIWA is pressing Tinubu to take action against any security chiefs deemed unfit for their roles, especially in light of the recent abduction incident in Kaduna State. They emphasize the need for effective leadership and strategies to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
