“Falana Urges Police to Prosecute Killers of 4 Military Officers, 12 Soldiers in Delta”

Tragic Attack on Troops in Delta State: A Call for Justice

On the 14th of March 2024, the troops of the 181 Amphibious Battalion, stationed in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, were on a peace mission to Okuoma community when they were surrounded by irate youths.

In a shocking and unprovoked attack that followed, the Commanding Officer, 2 Majors, a Captain, and 12 Soldiers were brutally murdered.

This act of violence is utterly condemnable, and we stand with all who denounce such barbarity inflicted upon military personnel who were deployed to restore peace in two warring communities within Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.

It is heartening, however, to acknowledge the military’s unwavering commitment to its duty of upholding peace and security in the nation.

Recalling past tragic incidents such as the massacres in Odi, Bayelsa State, and Zaki Biam, Benue State, we commend the military’s decision to avoid retaliatory actions against the communities involved. It is vital to prevent further tragedies and maintain a path of peace.

In line with the directive from the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Gwabim Musa, we are informed that some of the perpetrators behind this heinous crime have been apprehended. We urge the Delta State Government, local authorities, and leaders of the communities to collaborate with the police in identifying and bringing all involved in this reckless act to justice.

As we extend our deepest condolences to the Nigerian Army and the families of the fallen military personnel, we call upon the Nigeria Police Force to conduct a thorough investigation. Justice must be swift and firm for those responsible for this despicable attack.
