FCT, Abuja – Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, on Monday, December 30, 2024, labelled Reno Omokri “a political mercenary” who he said ‘is sometimes retained by person or government that can pay’.
El-Rufai stated this via a post on X (formerly Twitter) amid his online feud with the former social media of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
TheTalk.NG had reported how El-Rufai weighed in on Professor Farooq Kperogi’s recent criticism of alleged ethnic favouritism in President Bola Tinubu’s appointments, seemingly siding with the popular columnist.
Subsequently, Omokri waded in and described the allegation that Yoruba people head consequential agencies in Nigeria as ‘baseless’. The disagreement online has led to further squabbles.
Criticising Omokri, El-Rufai published pictures of the social media personality and wrote with a laughing emoji on X:
“NIGERIA UPDATE – The interesting lifecycle of Wendell Simlin, also sometimes retained as a political mercenary by any person or government that can pay…”
The ‘Wendell Simlin’ was a jibe to Omokri about a lady who accused the social commentator of impersonation several years ago.
