Super Eagles Coaching Position: Amuneke, Siasia, Okpala, and 9 More Meet NFF Deadline

At least 12 coaches managed to submit their application letters to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) before the deadline for the vacant position of head coach for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, the Super Eagles. This opportunity arose after the former coach, Jose Peseiro’s contract ended in February.

The NFF had announced the vacancy just five days earlier, specifying that candidates for the Super Eagles head coach position must have significant experience in top-tier football. Among the applicants are notable names such as Emmanuel Amuneke, who previously coached Tanzania’s senior men’s team, as well as Finidi George, who served as an assistant coach under Peseiro. Additionally, Sunday Oliseh, a former head coach of the Super Eagles, also threw his hat in the ring.

Other applicants include Samson Siasia, a former Super Eagles head coach whose FIFA suspension is set to be lifted soon, Sylvanus Okpala, a former Super Eagles assistant coach under the late Stephen Keshi, and Michael Nsien, who previously coached the USA U-16 team and has Nigerian heritage. These coaches are among the candidates vying for the prestigious role of leading the Super Eagles to future victories on the international stage.
