The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has taken decisive action against unethical practices by dismissing three staff members for gross misconduct.

The decision was reached during the university’s 171st regular meeting held on March 12, 2025. The institution formally announced the dismissals through a press statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ismail Yauri.
According to the statement, UDUS remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding ethical standards and fostering a secure and professional academic environment.
“This decision reflects the institution’s dedication to preserving academic integrity and ensuring a safe space for both students and staff,” the statement read.

TheTalk.NG earlier reported that the Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja, had dismissed four top lecturers for alleged examination misconduct and sexual harassment.This decision was announced during the institution’s Second Council meeting, chaired by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and held recently in Lokoja.
The university’s council stated that the dismissal of the four lecturers was based on serious violations of ethical standards, including allegations of examination malpractice and sexual harassment, Nation reported.
According to a statement from the university, the decision was reached after a thorough investigation, with the council commending the management for following due process in handling the matter.
Edo Govt Sacks 13 Varsity Lecturers
In a similar report, the Edo state government, headed by Governor Godwin Obaseki, has sacked 13 lecturers of state-owned Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Ekpoma.
According to a report by The Punch, the lecturers were sacked over alleged offences ranging from falsification of age, fraud, misconduct, extortion and sexual harassment, among others.
The institution’s vice chancellor, Professor Asomwan Sunny Adagbonyin, made this disclosure on Monday, May 22, while presenting the university disciplinary committee’s report to members of the AAU Special Intervention Team (SIT).
