Olubadan Passes Away at the Age of 81
The cherished leader of Ibadanland, known as the Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, has sadly left this world at the age of 81, following a short illness.
He was a highly educated and accomplished individual, having been the first Olubadan with a Ph.D. and a distinguished career that included academia, corporate service, and politics.
Oba Balogun’s passing was announced by his younger brother, Dr. Kola Balogun, and his Personal Assistant, Oladele Ogunsola. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Aliiwo according to Islamic customs, with the funeral scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Governor Seyi Makinde expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Oba Balogun as a beacon of excellence and a significant figure in Ibadan’s history during his two-year reign.
