Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Mr. Wale Ajetunmobi, following controversial remarks on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.

The comments, which appeared to suggest extrajudicial actions during the EndSARS protests, have sparked widespread criticism.

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 26, Gboyega Akosile, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, confirmed the suspension, emphasizing that the administration is committed to justice and the rule of law.

“Ajetunmobi’s suspension comes on the heels of the misrepresentation of facts on his personal X account on a past incident.

“The Sanwo-Olu-led administration frowns at any form of extrajudicial punishment and will not be a part of such actions. That is not who we are. That is not our way,” Akosile said.

Aide Responds to Misrepresentation

However, reacting to his suspension via X (formerly known as Twitter), Ajetunmobi clarified his comments, insisting they were taken out of context.

He explained that the word “executed” in his post was a mistake and was not intended to imply extrajudicial killings.

“My only and final response to this misrepresentation is that the excerpt was quoted out of context.

“There were series of comments made under the same post, which better explained what was intended.

” The word ‘executed’ was erroneously used and not meant in the context of that casual conversation,” Ajetunmobi said.

He also stated that the post and related comments had been removed before the public backlash.
