“Crisis Stems from Control Over State Resources”
Governor Fubara explained his position before the congregation, attributing the political unrest to battles over the management of Rivers State’s wealth.
“There is a reason for this crisis, and that reason is the control of the resources of Rivers State. Rivers State resources belong to you, the people, and we will make sure that these resources are applied judiciously for the betterment of Rivers State,” he stated.
Fubara appealed for continued support from the public, particularly in the form of prayers, to help the administration stay focused amid challenges.
“What you owe us is just one thing: Continue to pray for us. Let us not lose focus because we know the devil is always at war to derail people in governance. With your prayers, we will not lose focus, and the purpose of governance will be achieved in Rivers State,” Fubara added.
Governor Commends Apostle Chinyere’s Philanthropy
The governor took a moment to recognize Apostle Chinyere’s humanitarian efforts, highlighting the cleric’s contributions to education and welfare in the state. Noting the state of public amenities when he assumed office, Fubara praised Chinyere for addressing these gaps through his ministry’s programs.
“Life is not about taking. What is important is giving, and anybody who believes in only taking won’t go far in life. For all you are doing for humanity, God will continue to strengthen you,” Fubara said.
He applauded the OPM’s vocational programs, which provide technical training for children, saying, “Look at what you just showed me here. How many of our schools are still functioning to provide that level of training? We met a dead system which we are trying to revive. But you are doing it as a private person. Why won’t God bless you?”
N200 Million Donation for Church Development
During the event, Fubara announced a donation of N200 million to support OPM’s infrastructure projects, specifically for the construction of a building for the church’s TV station. He acknowledged the church’s support and said their prayers had helped his administration navigate ongoing challenges.
“I am happy to be here, especially to celebrate this birthday with him. Right from the time we started this journey, he has kept faith with me in prayers. I strongly believe his prayer and the prayers of the church are one of the reasons that, in the face of all our troubles, we are still standing,” Fubara shared.
“Let me, on behalf of the government and the people of Rivers State, donate the sum of N200 million to support the project,” he added.
Support for the Girl Child: Apostle Chinyere’s Vision
Apostle Chinyere shared insights into his mission to empower girls, particularly those vulnerable to exploitation. He described how the church’s initiatives aim to provide practical skills to young women to discourage them from turning to prostitution as a means of survival.
“We have established an All Girls’ Technical College to help the girl child develop skills for a self-sustaining future. When they leave secondary school, they won’t have to use their bodies to get money—they’ll use their hands,” Chinyere explained.
Patience Jonathan Lauds Apostle’s Work
Former First Lady Patience Jonathan also praised Apostle Chinyere, describing him as a pillar of hope and guidance for his humanitarian contributions. She encouraged him and other clerics to continue praying for peace in Rivers State, affirming his positive impact on the church and the world.
“Apostle Chinyere has been a great blessing not only to the body of Christ in Rivers State but also to the world in general,” she said, urging continuous prayers for stability in the state.
