Governor Uba: 137 School Children Kidnapped in Kaduna, Not 287
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State clarified that 137 schoolchildren were kidnapped from Kuriga in the Chikun Local Government Area, not 287 as previously reported. He mentioned this in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
The governor confirmed that all the abducted schoolchildren were rescued by the military, working together with local authorities from nearby Zamfara State.
The abduction had taken place at LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School, Kuriga, approximately four weeks ago. The Defence Headquarters also confirmed the successful rescue operation, stating that a total of 137 students were freed.
Sadly, Governor Sani expressed sorrow over the loss of a teacher who was kidnapped along with the students. The teacher faced complications while in captivity and did not survive. He extended condolences to the family of the deceased teacher and offered comfort to the families of the rescued schoolchildren.
