Gunmen Strike UNTH Once More, Abduct Deputy Director and Security Guard
Once again, armed criminals suspected to be kidnappers struck the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in Ituku Ozalla, Enugu State, on Tuesday morning. This marks another troubling incident following a previous attack earlier this year when a resident doctor was abducted but managed to escape.
According to reports, the kidnappers targeted a female deputy director of the hospital along with a security guard. A video circulating online shows an SUV, believed to belong to the abducted woman, with bullet holes on the front passenger side, indicating the severity of the attack.
As of now, neither the police nor the hospital management has officially confirmed the incident. However, a reliable source verified that the abduction took place in the same area where a medical doctor was kidnapped a few weeks prior.
Expressing distress over the situation, a staff member stated, “This is so sad; we are not safe at all in this hospital; everywhere is porous.” The incident highlights ongoing security concerns in the area and raises alarms about safety within the hospital premises.
